I Was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me

As one reads through the pages of both the Old and New Testaments, it becomes clear that God has a special place in His heart for 3 specific groups of people: widows, orphans and aliens (foreigners/strangers).  Here are just a few verses to illustrate this point:

"I was a stranger and you welcomed me."
Matthew 25:35

"God it is who sees justice done for the orphan and the widow, who loves the stranger and gives him food and clothing. Love the stranger then, for you were once strangers in Egypt."
Deuteronomy 10:18-20

(Talking about widows)..."She must be a woman known for her good works - whether she has brought up her children, been hospitable to strangers and washed the feet of God's holy people..."
1 Timothy 5:10

"Continue to love each other like brothers, and remember always to welcome strangers, for by doing this, some people have entertained angels without knowing it."
Hebrews 13:1-2

There is an organization called World Relief that works globally and locally to assist this group of people that God has asked us to love and support.  They need volunteers right here in the Triad to help refugees who have moved intp the area.  Check out this website for more information about how you can get involved: http://worldrelief.org/Page.aspx?pid=1808
