Prom Dresses for Girls in Need

Several orginizations are accepting donations of prom dresses to be distributed to girls who cannot easily afford a new dress.  If you have a dress to donate, or need one for the prom this year, here are a few places that can help:

REQUIRED: girls must be a student in a WSFCS high school and be accompanied by one adult female who will stay while you select a dress.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING AN ENTIRE FAMILY – ONLY ONE ADULT FEMALE.

We gladly accept gently used prom dresses!

Directions: on the corner of Old Lexington Road and Clemmonsville Road exit, turn left, from Highway 52 north, take Clemmonsville Road exit and turn right, the brick church is less than one mile on the right.

Enchanted Prom

The YWCA will hold its ninth annual Enchanted Prom Memories dress giveaway March 19 and March 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at Hanes Mall on the upper level next to Sears. Last year, 600 dresses were distributed. The program is still accepting donations of dresses, wraps, purses, jewelry, makeup and shoes, anything that a young girl would need for the prom.
Donations can be dropped off at the YWCA, 1300 Main St., and at the YWCA Best Choice Center, 1031 Highland Ave.

Girls who want to attend the giveaway need to pre-register and pay a fee of $1 at the door. They must have a high school ID and an adult guardian with them. Gown Girls
This group, with members from local high schools, is accepting donations of new and used dresses and accessories that will be sold at low cost to raise money for the International Justice Mission, which combats human trafficking.

Dresses will be priced from $10 to $30. The dress sale will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 26 at 1255 Creekshire Way in the Shoppes on Little Creek shopping center along Hanes Mall Boulevard. For more information, contact Anna Gazmarian, one of the organizers, at (336) 480-4084.

Camille's Magic Closet


Who: Camille's Magic Closet is dedicated to collecting new and almost new formal dresses, shoes and accessories in order to provide them free of charge to Guilford County's high school students who would otherwise be unable to afford them.

What: We provide students with "shopping" experiences and volunteers to help them find their dream dress in a safe and caring environment.

Where: Dresses, shoes and accessories may be dropped off at the following locations:

Greensboro Youth Council: 501 Yanceyville St.
Monday-Thursday 10 am - 6 pm; Friday 10 am - 5 pm
Cheshire Center: 2500 North Church St.
Monday-Thursday 8:30 am - 5:30 pm; Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm

When: Dresses may be donated from March 7 through April 1
